SAUL NASH is a dancer and designer from North East London. Having Received a scholarship to attend and graduate from the eminent MA Menswear at the Royal College of Art in 2018, Nash came from the unconventional route of Performance.Practicing for many years as a dancer and graduating from BA Performance Design at Central Saint Martins in 2015.
Inspired by the kinetic body and the subversion of sportswear via the memories of the various people he grew up around in London, Nash's work extends to worn garments and their ability to liberate an individual's identity.
For Autumn/Winter 2019 SAUL NASH will present STATIC|MOTION:A Conversation Part II
A Sequel to Static|Motion, a self-choreographed collection that looks to quietly re-invent sportswear. Conceived as a flowing dialogue between movements, ideas of male performativity take centre-stage as garments dance with the wearer and act as a medium for self-expression.
Meticulously cut patterns reveal many dual-purposes, actively challenging the wearer while only ever feeling organic. Nash presents his garments as sportswear subtly subverted – bringing attention to the enabling luxury of activewear and a freedom everyone can engage with.
The collection makes use of performance fabrics, luxury knits, Kaihara denims, and fastenings courtesy of YKK. With a process that is the outcome of personal connections of friends and dancers of Saul's circle, Static|Motion is inspired by the lasting effect of adolescent stylings of sportswear and its place as social luxury.
